Welcome to Shanghai Travel Tips! Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what personal data we collect and how we use it, in plain language.
Who We Are
Our website is Shanghai Travel Tips (https://shanghaitraveltips.com), a travel planning service founded by Ke Ping. We work hand-in-hand with a trusted, licensed travel partner to craft and deliver personalized Shanghai experiences. When you use our site or contact us for trip planning, you’re interacting with a combined team that values your privacy.
What Personal Data We Collect and Why
Comments
When you leave a comment on our site, we collect the data you enter in the comments form, along with your IP address and browser information. This helps us detect and prevent spam.
If you use the Gravatar service, an anonymized version of your email address may be sent to them to see if you have a profile picture. After your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible to the public alongside your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, please avoid uploading images that contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Other visitors can download these images and potentially extract the location data.
Information You Provide When Contacting Us
When you reach out via email or our contact form to plan a trip, we collect the information you voluntarily provide — typically your name, email address, travel dates, interests, and any special requests. We use this data solely to communicate with you, design your personalized itinerary, and coordinate with our licensed travel partner for guide and service arrangements. We do not use this information for marketing purposes without your explicit consent.
Cookies
To make your experience smoother, we use small files called cookies:
If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email, and website in cookies. This is for your convenience, so you don’t have to fill in your details again. These cookies last for one year.
Our login process uses temporary cookies to ensure your browser works correctly. These contain no personal data and are removed when you close your browser.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on our site may include embedded content (e.g., videos from YouTube, maps from Google, etc.). This content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website. These third-party sites may collect data about you, use cookies, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content.
Who We Share Your Data With
We value your trust and do not sell your data. Your data is shared only in the following limited circumstances:
- If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
- Visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service.
- To fulfill your trip planning request, relevant details (such as your name, travel dates, and itinerary preferences) are shared with our licensed travel partner. They use this information exclusively to arrange guides and logistics for your trip.
How Long We Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments.
For trip planning inquiries, we retain your contact information and correspondence for as long as needed to complete your travel arrangements and for a reasonable period afterward to handle any follow-up questions. You may request deletion at any time (see your rights below).
What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where Your Data Is Sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service that may process data internationally.
